Purpose: the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.

Calling: a strong urge toward a particular way of life or career.

Vision: the state of being able to see. The ability to think about or plan the future with imagination or wisdom.

Sight: the power of seeing.

Mission: an important assignment carried out. To go out into the world!

Mission Statement: a formal summary of the values of a company or individual.

Vision Statement: your purpose, what you're striving for and what you want to achieve.


Mission vs. Vision

Mission: defines the company/individual's objectives and your approach to reach those objectives.

Vision: describes the desired future position of the company/individual.

Habakkuk 2:2-3:

2 And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. 3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

Philippians 1:6:

6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;

How to Write a Vision Statement

Ex: Our vision is to create a better everyday life for many people.

1. Use the present tense

2. Describe an outcome

3. Aligns to your values

How to Write a Mission Statement

Ex: Patagonia - We're in the business to save our home planet.

1. Write what it is you do

2. List core values

3. How you do what you do

4. Why do you do it?

Basically, vision = desired future, mission = the "how" approach.

Let's think quarterly objectives. 

How do you want to prepare for the new year with your first set of 90 day goals?

What is your Quarter 1 objective?

How are you going to measure the success of your objective? List 3-4 outputs/results that you want to see in order to consider your objective successful.
